Battery Charger VBCS 30/20/250 Triple CI
If you want to extend a camper van yourself or redesign the electrical system from scratch, a triple charger is the ideal solution. It combines the following three chargers in one unit and saves a lot of wiring effort:

- Mains charger, 230 volts -> 12 volts for the on-board battery and trickle charging of the starter battery as well as supplying the 12-volt consumers.
- Charge booster as B2B charger for optimum charging while driving, as described on the previous page.
- Solar charge controller in MPP (maximum power point technology) for maximum charging while stationary.

Here, too, you can install the charger yourself if you know what you are doing. If you are unsure, you should definitely consult a specialist.

Mains operation, standby operation at the external socket from the mains:

- The full charging power in the universal wide range of 110 V AC - 230 V AC without switching is available worldwide even in the event of major deviations in the mains supply (undervoltage/overvoltage, sinusoidal shape, frequency).
- Powerful charging of the on-board battery and supply of the 12 V consumers from the mains.
- Auxiliary charging branch 12 V/4-5 A for supporting and maintaining the charge of the vehicle's (lead) starter battery during long idle periods.
- Thanks to the long-term charging characteristics, the unit can be permanently connected to the mains (operational, winter break).

Charge converter, "B2B" operation, mobile operation from alternator and starter battery (battery to battery):
- The powerful charge converter (booster) enables the on-board battery to be fully charged while driving.
- It increases/decreases the voltage to the necessary level to precisely charge the on-board battery with the optimal charging characteristic.
- It fully compensates for line losses and considerable voltage fluctuations of the alternator, as they constantly occur in Euro 6 vehicles, for example.
- The 12 V consumers that are also supplied are protected against overvoltage and voltage fluctuations.

Solar operation, "MPP" (Maximum Power Point):
- With MPP technology, the controller automatically determines the maximum power point (MPP) of the solar modules several times per second. The charging current gain of 10 % to 30 % ensures shorter charging times and the best possible power utilisation of the solar system.
- Auxiliary charging branch for support charging and charge maintenance of the vehicle starter battery during long idle periods.
- Switching output "AES", causes refrigerators with "AES" (Automatic Energy Selector, Electrolux / Dometic) to switch automatically from gas to 12 V operation if there is a permanent surplus of solar power.

Pulser operation, training for the on-board battery during charging breaks when no charging source is available:
- Battery training protects the unused (lead) battery from rapid ageing and failure due to sulphation during wintering, seasonal operation or longer breaks.

LCD Charge Control S (only for Battery Charger Triple series)
The LCD Charge Control S is exclusively compatible with the VBCS-/VAC-Triple series.

The LCD Charge Control S is a convenient, easy-to-use control and operating element specially developed for the unit combinations of the VBCS-/VAC-Triple series. It displays the status of the individual charging sources, the current charging phase, the voltage of the on-board and starter battery as well as the current charging current.

When the VBCS Triple is in solar operation, the displays for the current solar power (W) and the energy counters (Wh and Ah, can be reset to "zero" at any time) are also available for your own statistical purposes. By pressing a button, the mains charging mode of the VBCS Triple can be switched on or off manually or reduced in terms of power (AC power limit), e.g. if the shore power fuse is too weak. A special protection function ensures that a mains charge that has been inadvertently switched off is reactivated if the on-board battery is in danger of being deep discharged.

The large, clear display has an illuminated and extremely easy-to-read display with very low power consumption. The plug-and-play connection means that it can be easily retrofitted at any time. and, thanks to its compact design, can be installed in almost any location.

With up to 95% efficiency, these chargers generate three to four times less heat than the industry standard. And, once the battery is fully charged, power consumption is reduced to 0.5 watts, five to ten times better than the industry standard.

Durable, safe and quiet

Low heat load on electronic components - Protected against ingress of dust, water and chemicals. - Protection against overheating: The output current is reduced when the temperature rises up to 60 °C, but the charger does not fail. - The chargers are completely silent: no fan or other moving parts.

Storage mode: less corrosion on the positive plates.

Even the lower voltage of the float charge phase that follows the constant voltage phase causes grid corrosion. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to reduce the charging voltage even further, even if the battery remains connected to the charger for more than 48 hours.

Charging with temperature equalisation

The optimum charging voltage of a lead-acid battery varies inversely with temperature. The Blue Power IP65 charger measures the ambient temperature during the test phase and equalises the temperature during the charging process. The temperature is measured again when the charger is in low current mode, charge maintenance voltage phase or storage mode. Therefore, no special settings are needed for a cold or hot environment.

Lithium-ion battery (LiFePO4)

The Blue Power charger uses a specific charging algorithm for lithium-ion (LiFePO4) batteries, with an automatic lithium-ion undervoltage protection reset function.

Fully discharged battery recovery function

Most chargers with reverse polarity protection will not recognise a battery that has been discharged to zero volts or close to zero volts and therefore will not recharge it. However, the Blue Power charger will attempt to recharge a fully discharged battery with low current and will resume normal charging once sufficient voltage has been built up across the battery terminals.
