StandBy-Charger PRO
The VOTRONIC StandBy Charger is used to automatically recharge and maintain the charge of the starter battery or the auxiliary battery if the mains charger, the solar charge controller or the generator only has one charging output. The device can be easily retrofitted by simply connecting it between the on-board and starter battery or on-board and auxiliary battery without having to change the existing wiring. If, for example, the mains charger is in operation and charging the on-board battery, the second battery (starter battery or auxiliary battery) is also charged with a small portion of the charging current, depending on the state of charge. This charge retention works automatically and is recognisable by an increased voltage level of the second battery. Overcharging of the second battery is impossible as the charging voltage is reduced by at least 0.6V and the charging current is limited to 3A (24V version: 2A).

However, modern lithium (LiFePO4) batteries have a significantly higher open-circuit voltage than starter batteries (lead, AGM). When using simple, unregulated and uncontrolled standby chargers, this leads to the complete discharge of the lithium supply battery. For this reason, the Standby Charger (item no. 3065 or 6065) is unfortunately not suitable for these batteries. The VOTRONIC StandBy Charger Pro, on the other hand, has an adjustable undervoltage limit at the input. Charging is interrupted if the voltage falls below this limit. This means that it can be operated without any problems on a modern lithium (LiFePO4) battery as a supply battery without running the risk of draining it completely.

It also disconnects the chassis mains from the body mains, as the battery disconnect relay is removed or deactivated. Up to 30 Ah can be recharged per driving hour with smaller charge boosters.

Charge boosters are useful if
- you own a Euro 6 or Euro 6+ vehicle
- you mainly make short journeys
- you are mainly self-sufficient and want to use the driving time effectively for battery charging
- you only have a small solar system and want to use an additional charging source in bad weather.

You can do without a charging booster for the time being and always retrofit it later, when

- you have installed a well-dimensioned solar system (200 Wp or more).
